HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!!

My friends back in Dubai and everywhere else east of New York have already entered the new year! They've cheered their glasses, shouted out the countdown, and stolen a few kisses!! Myself, 7 hours away prepping in LA to say farewell to a crazy 2006 and welcome an exciting and adventurous 2007!!

To all my friends and family: may your new year be filled with fun, random adventures to foreign lands, a kick ass job promotion, a trip over to Dubai to say hello, ground breaking YouTube Videos, some hot dates (or more romantic moments for the married readers), and most importantly laughter, love, and memorable moments!

Never stop discovering and being curious!

Rough Life in Dubai

Growing up in Seattle I was definitely at the mercy of our renowned bad weather - rain, storms, snow, cold, wind, everything! (Currently the power has been out for the last 4 days for the fam back home due to crazy wind storms! And I guess it's freezing -- I'm going to have the roughest time!)

Now living in Dubai, sunshine is no longer such a limited luxury. For example, our Motorola team Christmas party was spent all day at the Jumeirah Beach Hilton enjoying the usual beach activities in DECEMBER! Another interesting observation, did you notice it's our Christmas party? Not a holiday party? And the United Arab Emirates is technically a Muslim country? Maybe the whole politically correct song and dance has gotten out of hand in the US.

Anyways, so pictures for the loved ones:

First Red Card! - Happy Holidays!

So I've been playing soccer since I was 7 years old with people of all ages, boys, girls, beginners, and experts and I've never been red carded!

I have now joined the ranks of Zidane, Maradona, and Beckman, receiving my first ever red card during my last game of the season for the Dubai Women's League! (Though it should have been a yellow).

Above is the Christmas card I sent out to my soccer team for long lasting memories!

Desert Night Life

Check out were I slept Friday night! My usual Trilogy routine of a night out dancing to house music in the massive Dubai night club interrupted to sleep out in the remote area of Wadi Rum in Jordan.

Hmm, experience wise, hmmm, I keep trying to tell myself that sometimes you need experiences like these to remind you of how grateful we should be for our amenity filled lives, but could I have still got this enlightened perspective somehow else?

So Friday night I slept in a Bedouin tent out in the desert with impressively cold weather, huddled under layers and layers of massive camel blankets (and those of you who know me from Dubai are struggling to picture this, as am I) The bathroom? I've seen better ones in fraternities . . .

I think the funniest part was after dinner and the entertainment, the Bedouin hosts packed up their things (did I mention the Bedouin kids with their mobile phones asking me to bluetooth them my Nancy songs and proudly showing off their collection of female anatomy photos? The world is flatter), jumped into their 4x4s and headed back to the village to sleep in their warm, wind protected houses leaving us bewildered tourists to figure out the strategically warmest spots . . . Hmmmm,

Waking up hangover free Saturday morning at 6AM was quite refreshing though double checking to make sure I hadn't lost any extrematies to the cold weather was not. Also, I think I will stick with my Land rover as a mode of transportation vs. our fuzzy camel friends (at least my car doesn't growl and try to bite me . . .)

More Jordan perspectives to come.
